Which settings should I use?
1920px at 82% quality suits almost every website. Most screens never display an image wider than that, so anything larger is bytes your visitors download and never see.
- WebP is typically much smaller than JPEG at the same visual quality, and every current browser supports it.
- JPEG is the safer choice if the image goes into an email, a print workflow, or an older system.
- Below 70% quality you start to see artefacts on skin tones and gradients. Check before you publish.
Why image size matters
Images are usually the single largest thing slowing a page down. A photo straight from a phone can be 4MB. The same photo resized and compressed properly is often under 200KB with no visible difference on screen.
