Which format should you pick?
- WebP for anything going on a website. Typically much smaller than JPEG at the same visual quality, and every current browser supports it.
- JPEG for email, print workflows, or anywhere an older system has to open it.
- PNG only when you need transparency or a pixel-exact copy. It is the largest of the three.
One thing worth knowing
Converting a transparent PNG to JPEG or WebP-lossy fills the transparency with white. That is the format's limitation, not a bug — JPEG has no alpha channel. Convert to PNG if you need the transparency kept.
